I love the season change over, especially the cusp of Spring and Summer in Adelaide, you still get some decent sun during the day but it’s cool enough that you’re not chained to the air-conditioning.
The days are longer and allure of frolicking in the sunshine drags us away from the Netflix. (Ok that last part might just be me)
I remember being a little girl hearing adult conversations about the weather. Phrases thrown around like “It’s such a lovely day” & “There’s not a cloud in the sky”. I remember thinking to myself how boring, I never want to become one of those people, I’ll be the coolest adult in all the land, and will never talk about the weather…
Cut to my 29 year old self who talks about the weather constantly, checks my multiple weather apps religiously, sometimes several times a day just to track when the cold front could be about to hit…. I know, I know, I’m worried too.
It was a particularly lovely day last Saturday, there were a few clouds in the sky but I won’t hold that against Mother Nature.
After getting my chores done in the morning it was time to chase the seaside and the sunshine, just one of the perks of living so close to the beach!
The beach is the perfect place to debut a dress, actually any occasion is perfect to wear a dress if you ask me, it’s my standard wardrobe go to.
This dress is to die for, super comfortable and dreamy, the cotton linen fabric gives it structure and even in the height of summer it will be breezy and cool.
Don’t even get me started on the Gingham print… Gah!
I was worried that this style of dress would swamp me and look sack like, just goes to show that you should always try new styles, they might just surprise you.
Size wise it’s a standard fit, I’m wearing the large and it’s perfect, there’s plenty of room in the body of the dress but around the chest its fitted nicely, any larger bust than mine may need to go up a size but the measurements on the Bohemian Traders website are accurate so always check them out first.
That’s one of the things I love about Bohemian Traders, they have individual measurements for each piece of clothing not just a standard size chart that some clothing stores have, it makes online shopping so much easier when you can see if an item is going to work for you.
I generally keep my accessories pretty simple but I’ve never met a head scarf that I didn’t like, this is an oldie from Sportsgirl, I love how it injects a bit of colour and boho gypsy into any outfit.
My necklace is also an oldie from my sister in law’s accessories and jewellery store called Ophelia Cottage in Hahndorf SA, if you’re ever up in the Adelaide Hills for the day I highly recommend paying them a visit. It’s the cutest little cottage boutique and most styles or sizes are limited, perfect if you like one of a kind pieces!
My gypsy tassel bag was a birthday present from friends, I had recently declared that my style mantra this summer would be ‘Boho Chic’ and this is what they came up with, personally I think they nailed it, I’m in love!
That evening I wore this outfit to a friend’s birthday BBQ, all I added was a classic denim jacket when it got a little chilly.
This dress will see me right through summer for a number of occasions, from casual beach lounging, garden party soirees and Christmas party central.
I’m so happy I stumbled onto the little gem that is Bohemian Traders, I have some of my favourite Australian fashion and style bloggers to thank for that!
