Wearing | Namoi Designs

When I was growing up I spent every Wednesday night at my grandparents house.

We all lived in the Adelaide hills, funnily enough we actually had 3 family homes on that same hill, and would walk to and from each others house as we please.

Most Wednesday nights some of my cousins would come too, we would frolic and laugh until the sun went down, at which point my Nanny would force us to come inside and get ready for bed.

Fast forward 20 years and we’re still frolicking and laughing. Except now we’re apparently adults and more often than not get to decide our own bed times.

Last Saturday I caught up with Kalila from Namoi Designs, who just happens to be one of those very same cousin’s I frolic and laugh with.

I often go past her shop on Glen Osmond Road for some bubbles and a hello, and hey, if I happen to spend a few moments browsing her new collections, so be it.

I mean how can I not, the shop front is a juxtaposition of eclectic furniture, clean lines, white wash walls and of course stunning clothes.

All the clothing and jewellery sold in Namoi Designs is designed and made in Adelaide, the majority of it by Kalila herself. That’s just one of the things I love about it, each quality piece is ethically made with love. Being a boutique store many pieces are in limited supply, fantastic if you like to stand out from the crowd.

Right from its inception, Namoi’s style philosophy has been good quality basics and pieces that can be layered and loved for many years to come. And trust me, you will.

My latest love is the V Neck Dress in black, perfect for long summer days and nights.

Its the perfect little black dress that I know will definitely earn it’s keep in my summer and winter wardrobe, work or play this baby has prime position.

Kalila (or Lil as I will forever call her) continues to blow me away with her simple yet edgy designs that fit and flatter a range of shapes and sizes.
I’m wearing the V Neck Dress in size M/L with plenty of room but it would easily fit up to a 16/18, possibly a 20 in standard sizing, length permitting.

Biased cousin or not, I can assure you that talent runs wild through her veins, it always has.
If you’re an Adelaide local I highly recommend checking out Namoi for yourself, or tag along to one of the many local markets she regularly inhabits.
If you can’t make it into the bricks and mortar store or one of the many local markets then the range is available on her website here

Fashionista note: I myself had to ask Lil to say the pronunciation of the name multiple times at first, it is pronounced     Na-Moi, not the ladies name Naomi. Now you can stroll right in and sound like a pro first up!

Speaking of strolling, I thought I would share a trip down memory lane with you all, here’s a picture I found of Lil, our other cousins and I at one of her birthday parties back in the day and us again a few years ago, I think it is pretty obvious who is who!

We both enjoy cake and large sunglasses…. apparently

What about you, would I find any Namoi Designs pieces in your wardrobe?
